Let’s talk about something that affects a lot of people today. And I write this post out of pure Love and Compassion for everyone out there, even though what I say mainly applies to people who share my complexion, those of the darker variety; some lighter, some a bit more deeply-pigmented.
The Truth is, though, that this message can indeed apply to everyone. I believe in the elevation of all people, no matter their shape, size, color, what have you. Even if you are not a member of the intended audience, it might be beneficial to keep on reading.
We’re going to talk about is the Black Consciousness Movement. I, for years, was one of the, if not the biggest proponent; the biggest advocate, of these teachings. I spent years consuming everything out there, from all the old school teachers-many who have stopped teaching or are no longer with us-to the new jacks taking center stage right now.
I absorbed everything they said, diving into endless amounts of so called “esoteric knowledge;” videos, audios, books, articles-everything you can think of. It would be nothing for me sometimes to spend up to 6 hours a day just consuming content, then also falling asleep to it at night.
I would do this day after day, for months at a time; sometimes replaying or rereading different materials over and over, so that all of what was said or written down could sink into the deepest recesses of my mind. I could quote many of the teachings verbatim.
All of this illustrates the fact that I was there fully invested. So I know what these things “mean” for someone like me. However, I’m going to say something and, no doubt, I’ll receive a lot of backlash for it.
These instructors, often unknowingly, were leading us down the wrong path; down a road that had no end, no conclusion, no reward, and in fact would end in our Spiritual destruction.
Now, hold on, let me unpack this. I can almost hear somebody’s inner dialog shouting back loudly. It’s a voice that wants to instantly reject me. without even knowing where it is I plan to go. That voice only shows up because you, like I once was, are probably addicted to the type of information in question, spoken in the way that it was delivered to you.
And again, these teachers, I believe for the most part, were well meaning and had actually been trying to do us some good, The problem is that they themselves were misdirected, and I’ll share some reasons that exemplify exactly why that is.
You see, on some level, everyone wants to elevate and ascend from the suffering of this world. We, as a people, have especially been hit hard over the past couple of centuries and feel the resulting loss of stability. For this reason, we’re looking for a ray of light in the darkness; something to disconnect us from the negative labels, projections and assumptions .
Then certain people show up; they’re knowledgeable by modern standards. They seem to possess a certain degree of esoteric knowledge-not available to the average man or woman in society. And when this person mirrors how we look, something inside of us just lights up.
We are given the impression that something “better” is available for us too. I get that. Where things immediately go sideways, though, is that what we hear is often packaged in a way that reinforces the old “us versus them” mentality. So there’s a dependency not only on rising up, but also on putting someone else, or another group, down, at the same time.
We have definitely felt dominated, abused, devalued, stepped on and stepped over. But some of these teachings, that are supposed to be spiritual, are no better than the ideologies they claim to oppose.
Teachers say, “You know what? You’re supposed to be the ones stepping on other people, abusing other people, dominating other people, ruling other people.” etc. Talk like that comes from the same vantage point, and level of consciousness, where the problems are created.
The solution to “dominance” is “balance,” not counter-domination. That balance can show up in a variety of ways. No matter the form, though, it will be a harmonious and cooperative engagement. Otherwise, you remain stuck at the same level and simply move through different positions.
In that case, where’s the elevation? Where’s the ascension?
These teachers also tell us to look back at different eras of history; to past instances of civilization, when “black” people were prosperous. There’s nothing inherently wrong with that advice. Following it might provide you with a very positive and mind-opening experience.
But the conversation is never about examples of different people working well together. It’s instead focused on periods when the more “melanated” shades of humanity were in a dominant position; when we ruled this or that industry, this nation or that nation; when others were in fear of us; when we were able to capture and seize a lot of the world’s resources.
Now, the general public doesn’t know anything about these things. Regardless, the problem is that you are taught to basically idolize a version of humanity that was already in its downfall. You are looking at fallen group of people for Inspiration.
Pirates, captives, marauders, and such run the roost among a society that has started to crumble. We ignore this fact because the ego is fueled by thoughts of comparison, competition and conquest. But, again, digging through all that information doesn’t lead anyone upward.
Many Black Consciousness Movement teachers also draw from books and materials collected from different parts of the world, created in different time periods, that were geared toward different people and had different agendas behind them.
The information may have been channeled from any number of different entities, and those sharing it don’t know where, what, or from whom these teachings originally came from.
You see, most of us have come to realize that there are infinite beings in the expanse of all existence. Some of them have a benevolent attitude toward humanity. However, there are also many who do not. You likely don’t know the difference, and neither did the leaders of this movement.
Just because something is advanced by present-day standards doesn’t mean it’s good or good for you. For example, let’s look at the ideas of Bobby Hemmitt. Now, I’m not going to disrespect the man, but only reflect on some of the things he taught.
I remember him saying, many times, that is was beneficial, in his eyes, to create shrines for various entities, who we can reach out to for “help” when needed. Not only that, but he also endorsed going into a trance-like state and having sex with some of these life forms to create a deeper connection with them.
That’s a horrible idea! You don’t need to have sex with any entity who genuinely wants to gift you wisdom, or something else, for your betterment or humanity’s advancement. Those are fallen wicked witchy-like arts, and you will be so much worse for the wear if you engage in them.
For one, everything in the universe revolves around energetic exchange. The possible exception may be when you’re dealing with very High-Level, Divine Beings who are truly Inspired by deep Compassion to help humanity unconditionally. But almost no one has developed themselves to the point of being able to communicate with life forms of that nature.
When you’re dealing with these various entities, though, even I you know-on a basic common sense level- that they’re not going to give you something for nothing. Everything is a trade off.
The being that uses certain “powers” to help you get ahead is going to take something in return. You have no idea what kind of payment will be required. It could be something precious, that you have but it can’t get through natural means.
You might be handing your Soul over to any kind of creature; one that may, in fact, be lower than you are. If you knew what was inside of you to be unleashed and had access to True Spiritual guidance, you’d probably laugh at some of these entities that people like Hemmitt suggested you put up a shrine to.
Suppose you were to follow one of these teachers and learn a few piecemeal rituals, incantations, spells and all kinds of wicked, low-level garbage. And in exchange for that nonsense, you give up the connection with divinity that you already had.
And this is especially true if you want to use magical principles to obtain worldly possessions. I’ve heard all the claims: If you want to get money, do this type of ritual. If you want to gain influence or have your your challenges overcome, then set up a shrine like this. Every night, make sure you bow down to this or that being and say vows of dedication to it.
That is a horrible idea.
You have no idea what you’re dealing with. Again, I assume these teachers meant well for the most part. But many of them were misguided, speaking through the filter of their of human feelings, instincts and ideas. Following their logic will only keep you at the human of perspective, which is full of flaws and misperceptions.
Just think about this:
No matter what you’ve learned from any or all of these people, where has that taken you?
What have you actually achieved?
Do you have the keys to enlightenment?
Do you have a true or straightforward path of ascension, to rise above and beyond this world?
Have you been elevating to new levels of Spiritual development, Insight and Wisdom consistently?
If you have a head full of knowledge, but things haven’t really changed much, that is a telling sign right there.
When I let go of all the ego, asking to be shown a direct and authentic spiritual path, opening my heart and mind to receive, from a place of pure unconditioned Awareness, the answer was given to me. An anonymous individual simply showed up, crossed my path, and mentioned two words that ended up giving me the greatest gift in life one could hope for.
I’ve explained exactly what that is in this post. The first few paragraphs of that post are similar to this one, as it approaches the same topic from a wider angle. But read down to the end. Doing so will be worth your time.
